On Sunday, Dec 3, the AIDS Coalition of Nova Scotia will be hosting the 2023 Halifax World AIDS Day Vigil.
This year the Vigil will be both in-person and virtual. To attend either option advance registration is required. The ceremony starts at 2:00pm
The in-person Vigil is being held at the Italian Cultural Center, located at 2629 Agricola Street in Halifax. ASL will be provided. A scent-free policy is in place for this event. The space is accessible and on a bus route, and has street parking.
The virtual aspect of the Vigil will be avialable via Zoom. ASL will be live-streamed as part of the Zoom feed.
ACNS is pleased to announce that Robert Seymour Wright will be the guest speaker at this year's Vigil. Robert is a Social Worker and Sociologist whose 34-year career has spanned the fields of education, child welfare, forensic mental health, trauma, sexual violence, and cultural competence. His pioneering work with colleagues in cultural competence and conducting cultural assessments has received national attention. All are welcome to join us as we remember and celebrate the lives of individuals living with HIV/AIDS who have passed away in Nova Scotia. The night will include the Reading of the Names and a candle-lighting ceremony to honour their lives. There will be musical performances, poetry, and more.
